Black Women Deserve to Feel Safe In Their Bodies

Stress, racial trauma, and misogynoir take a real, physical toll on our bodies. It’s time to release what’s weighing you down and reclaim your brilliance.

The stress Black women carryβ€”both seen and unseenβ€”is more than emotional; it’s physiological. Chronic stress and trauma lead to weathering, shortening our lifespans and depleting our energy. Talk therapy and meditation can help, but they don’t release the deep bracing, shallow breathing, and hormonal imbalance trapped in our nervous system. To heal, we must address the body.

Why a Body-Based Approach is Crucial for Black Women

Black women are disproportionately impacted by allostatic loadβ€”the wear and tear on the body caused by chronic exposure to stress. Without addressing the physical impact of racial trauma and misogynoir, our nervous systems remain in survival mode. This affects how we show up at work, in relationships, and in caregiving roles.

Key Challenges Black Women Face:

  • Racial Trauma: The constant bracing from past pain and future uncertainty keeps us hypervigilant.

  • Misogynoir: The pervasive combination of racism and sexism adds daily stress, creating emotional and physical exhaustion.

  • Identity Threat: Our bodies perceive even the threat of stereotypes and discriminication as physical threats (retraumatization), keeping us in a state of contraction and tension.

When our bodies hold on to this stress without release, we break down. The contraction, shallow breathing, and stress hormones must be discharged to create capacity for joy, creativity, and connection.

Master Your Nervous System and Unlock Your Higher Intelligence

I teach Black women how to get in tune with their bodies and master their nervous systems. When you regulate your nervous system, you not only unshame your emotional and physical responsesβ€”you also unlock your brain’s higher intelligence. You shift from high alert to highly focused and productive.

This is more than self-care. It’s liberation.

I’ve Had the Honor of Partnering with Leading Black Women’s Organizations

I’ve facilitated workshops for Black Girl Code, IKONI Collective, CRIADO Studios, Center for Black Women’s Wellness, and Free To Be Collective. My mission is to share this work with as many Black women as possible.
